Dog, the Bison, and the Lumberjack

Fort Worth Nature Center Visit One 2/13/2025 Meeting Dog for the first time was unexpected. I walked into the Fort Worth Nature Center building where I see a tiny alligator in the hands of my classmate. Luckily, Dog's mouth was taped shut because I think he would have bit off all of my fingers. I did not expect alligator skin to feel rough and structured. It was almost like a mix of snake and dinosaur skin on a creature.  The bison encounter was one of a kind. Exploring the Wilderness Past and Future

Hello! My name is Sara Gabriel (hence Sarafari), and I am a student in Urban Wilderness at Texas Christian University. I am so excited to explore the outdoors in the Fort Worth area this semester. I have had my fair share of outdoor experiences in Texas, but have yet to branch out in the Fort Worth area. I was born and raised in Galveston, Texas where I spent most of my days on the water fishing or engaging in water sports. I love to hike, hunt, run, scuba dive, swim, fish, and explore. As a child, my friends and I would spend most of our summers outside pretending to live on a remote island. We would harvest and dry seaweed and catch crab to eat. Being up in Fort Worth makes me miss the water more than anything. Hopefully, this class will allow me to gain a deeper appreciation for the "Urban Wilderness."  I am so excited to help out at Fort Worth Nature Center this semester, and cannot wait to learn about the city from a unique perspective!  Scuba Diving in Thailand Fly...
